Stredoslovenská energetika, a. s. (SSE) is a power supply company. It conducts its business in the Regions of ®ilina and Banská Bystrica and in a part of the Trenčín Region, where it delivers and distributes electricity to some 690,000 customers - businesses and households, providing its customers with complex services related to the power supply and use. Stredoslovenská energetika, a. s. was established on January 1, 2002. Its sole founder was the Slovak National Property Fund. Based on the Slovak Republic´s Government Decree No. 538, dated May 22, 2002, a 49% ownership interest in SSE, held by the the National Property Fund of the SR, was acquired by Electricité de France International ("EDF") through a direct sale. EDF entered SSE as a strategic partner on October 31, 2002.
The National Property Fund of the Slovak Republic, having its registered office at Drieňová 27, 821 01 Bratislava, Organization Identification Number: 17 333 768, entered in the Commercial Register of the Commercial Court in Bratislava I, Part: Po, Entry No.: 30/B, the shareholder owning 1,793,508 shares in the company with the nominal value of 1,793,508,000 SKK (51%).
Electricité de France International, having its registered office at 20 Place de la Défense Tour EdF - 920 50 Paris La Défense, Organization Identification Number: 380 415 125, registered in the Commercial Court at Nanterre under File Number 2001B04800, the shareholder owning 1,723,174 shares in the company with the the nominal value of 1,723,174,000 SKK (49%).
Based on the licenses granted under the special laws of the Slovak Republic, SSE conducts its business in the following main areas:
- Electricity Supply,
- Electricity Purchase,
- Maintenance and Construction of Electrical Networks and Facilities,
- Electricity Production.
In addition to its licensed activities, SSE also conducts its business in other areas, based on provided Trade Certificates, such as metering, meter calibration, provision of power engineering services and engineering.

The compliance with and protection of the environment rank among the most pursued areas within SSE activities. The prevention of any potential negative environmental impacts, caused by SSE activities is part of its long-term strategy. In the sphere of environmental protection, SSE carries out a lot of activities, reconstruction work and overhauls in accordance with the applicable legal regulations. Such activities aim at minimizing environmental impacts of the operated power facilities. The implementation of environmental measures taken by SSE is supported by a close cooperation with governmental authorities, organizations, foundations and interest associations engaged in the environmental area.
SSE, as one of the largest business entities in the region, is also active in areas which influence the regional development and life. Therefore, SSE implements projects focused on supporting environmental protection, education, health care, culture, social spheres and sports. SSE is also committed to open communication with customers, public institutions and mass media in order to provide comprehensive and truthful information about SSE.
