Electricity distribution: Electricity distribution means transport of electricity through the distribution system to the customer's offtake point. In Žilina, Banská Bystrica regions as well as in a part of Trenčín region, this service is provided by Stredoslovenská energetika - Distribúcia, a.s (SSE-D), which is a 100% subsidiary of Stredoslovenská energetika, a.s.
On 8 April 2006, SSE-D, a.s. was established in connection with the unbundling of the distribution system operator, which was performed pursuant to §25(1) of the Energy Act. The aim of unbundling is to separate distribution activities from other activities such as electricity generation and electricity supply in order to increase the independence of network operation and thus to prevent possible discrimination of network users. The unbundling should also facilitate the full opening-up of the market for all customers. The unbundling of distribution system operation into SSE-D came to force on 1 July 2007.
The management of SSE and SSE-D assures its customers, business partners and electricity market participants that after switching to the new structure the customers will not experience any negative impact on the quality of services provided by SSE and SSE-D.
From the customer's point of view the unbundling will not have any significant effect on communication with SSE. Large commercial customers who have concluded with SSE an integrated contract both for the electricity supply and distribution may, regarding the issues concerning SSE and SSE-D, contact an SSE employee assigned for them.
