Information on the modification of an existing contract

A written electricity supply contract concluded with the customer in accordance with Act No. 656/2004 Coll (Energy Act) may be amended in accordance with the SSE's General Terms and Conditions, except where provided to the contrary by the Energy Act, Decree No. 267/1999 or the applicable electricity price lists. If possible, the change in the contract is referred to as an amendment to (or modification of) the existing electricity supply contract.

The most frequent requests for contract modification include:

  • Change in input power,
  • Change of mailing address for settlement invoices,
  • Change of bank account,
  • Change of monthly advance payment amount,
  • Change of tariff.

Change in input power

The electricity customer may only use electricity appliances listed in the electricity supply contract or those that do not cause him/her to exceed the permitted input power indicated in the contract by more than 5 kW (applies to Entrepreneurs and Organizations).

If you intend to use appliances with higher power requirements, it is necessary to request modification of your existing electricity supply contract.

Along with the request for modification, the customer must submit the following:

The electricity supply contract may be modified via: Customer Call Center as follows:

contract modification without an increase in input power - over the phone

contract modification with an increase in input power - in writing, using the "Connection - request for Entrepreneurs and Organizations; Households - from low-voltage distribution" form available from our website - see: Forms to Download.

You may also have your electricity supply contract modified at any SSE Contact Office.

The service is free of charge, provided that the modification does not include a change in tariff or a different type of metering.

Change of address

When concluding an electricity supply contract, the customer indicates the address to which settlement invoices are to be sent. Apart from electricity invoices, also any other written communication from the electricity supplier, such as notices, electricity invoices, attempts at conciliation, etc. will be sent to this address.

In order to prevent potential claims (non-delivery of a settlement invoice, attempts at conciliation, etc.), a change of permanent residence requires notification thereof at any SSE Contact Office or via telephone at the Customer Call Centre.

This modification is free of charge.

Change of bank account

Pursuant to Act No. 656/2004 Coll. (Energy Act), written electricity supply contract shall stipulate, inter alia, also the method of payment for consumed electricity including advanced payments.

Where the "Invoice and Transfer Order" (standing bank order, transfer order) or "Direct Debit Payment" method is used,  the customer's bank details are also included in the database. Settlement invoice overpayments are sent to the customer's bank account; if direct debit payments are activated, monthly advance payments or outstanding payments from the settlement invoices are debited from the customer's bank account. It is therefore very important for the electricity supplier to be notified by the customer of a change in the account number, change of bank, or closure of the bank account.

You can  notify SSE of account changes in any of its Contact Offices or in writing at the Customer Call Centre.

This service is free of charge.

Change of monthly advance payments

Pursuant to Act No. 656/2004 Coll. (the Energy Act), a written electricity supply contract shall stipulate, inter alia, the method of payment for electricity taken, including advance payments.

Advance payments serve for the purchase of electricity; therefore, it is necessary to cover the expected electricity consumption at the offtake point by such advance payments. Regular advance payments reduce the outstanding amounts from the settlement invoices.

After an agreement with the customer, the electricity supplier shall determine the amount of monthly advance payments depending on the number and input power of electric appliances, the expected offtake and the selected tariff.

The supplier can increase the advance payments unilaterally in the event of changed electricity price and increased consumption, if they are not sufficient to cover the costs associated with electricity purchase.

The customer may request a change of the amount of prescribed payments at any SSE Sales Office or via telephone by calling the Customer Call Centre.

This service is free of charge.

Change in tariff

When concluding an electricity supply contract, the customer is free to choose any tariff pursuant to the conditions indicated in the applicable electricity price list, depending on customer's usage requirements.

The tariff may only be changed after one year from the date of contract conclusion or of the last change in tariff. Tariffs are always assigned for a period of at least one year.

A customer complying with the conditions indicated in the applicable electricity price list may request a change of tariff at any Contact Office of SSE or by contacting the Customer Call Centre:

  • change of tariff without input power increase -by telephone,
  • change of tariff with an input power increase - in writing, using the "Connection - request for Entrepreneurs and Organizations; Households - from low-voltage distribution" form available at our website: www.sse.sk - see Forms to Download.

In order to have the contract modified, the following must be submitted:

As long as the change of tariff does not require an SSE employee to visit the offtake point, the service is free of charge. If the change of tariff requires a visit to the offtake point (change of tariff involving a replacement of electricity meter or an adjustment to the auxiliary device clock settings), the actions taken are charged pursuant to the applicable Minor Installation Works Price List.
