On November 30, 2005, the Regulatory Office for Network Industries approved the electricity price list of Stredoslovenská energetika, a.s. for the household category for the year 2006. On average, there will be a moderate increase of 5,75% in household tariffs. For the most frequently used low volume tariff the increase is 6,2%. The reduced tariff for accumulation heating of September 2005 remains unchanged in 2006.
The moderate increase in average electricity tariffs is caused by two facts. Energy becomes more expensive all over the world as reflected in the dramatic increase of gas, heating oil and coal prices in 2005. The impact on the electricity market in Slovakia is that prices went up by 12%. This influences approximately 40% of the household tariffs. The remaining increase is caused by growth in the grid tariffs. SSE, a.s. will take further measures in order to promote the use of electricity for accumulation heating because:
- is the most comfortable and environmentaly friendly for customer
- favourably influences grid load in Slovakia
- can be used when the system registers low consumption and prices are attractive
- is compared to direct electricity heating cheaper for the customer
Measures related to electrical heating are intended to secure and if possible increase the current electricity heating volumes in Central Slovakia. This has positive impact on the total Slovak electricity system as the costs for distribution, transmission grid, system services and system costs can be allocated over a larger volume in the system lowering the average costs per kWh.
